Global Green USA Promotes Plug-in Hybrid, All Electric, and Alternative Fuel Vehicles for Oscars Drive: Stars Skipping Gas Guzzlers; Arriving in Ec
LOS ANGELES (BusinessWire EON) February 23, 2007 --
"Global warming is threatening us all," said Oscar nominee and Global Green supporter Penelope Cruz. "Fortunately, there are many simple things we can all do such as driving greener cars or changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs, which can dramatically save energy and reduce global warming pollution."
This year, Global Green is highlighting the increased choice in eco-friendly cars as examples of the directions automakers can head. A plug-in Prius that gets 100 mpg, the Tesla Roadster, an electric sports car, and Compressed Natural Gas vehicles are included in the green fleet. The Red Carpet/Green Cars Oscar campaign kicked-off Wednesday night with a pre-Oscar Party at the Avalon Hollywood to raise funds and awareness for Global Green's smart global warming solutions: clean cars and green buildings.
"Vehicles and buildings are two of the biggest contributors to global warming pollution," said Matt Petersen, President of Global Green USA. "By arriving in 'green vehicles' instead of gas-guzzling limousines, well-known individuals are helping shine the light on smart solutions to global warming: what we drive, as well as how we live."
For the past five years Global Green has highlighted smart solutions to global warming through its Red Carpet/Green Cars campaign. In 2006, Global Green launched its Sustainable Design Competition for New Orleans chaired by Brad Pitt and is currently building the first green affordable housing project in the 9th Ward. www.globalgreen.org
